Host rock relations at the Skaergaard western margin on Mellemø.
Precambrian basement gneisses are exposed in the left side of the picture
followed by a thin succession of Kangerlussuaq sediments (Cretaceous to
Palaeocene), and at the right side the Palaeocene to Eocene basalts. The
high dark hills in the background are gabbros belonging to the Skaergaard
